Texas Educational Theatre Association Exemplary District of Distinction

July 24, 2025—CFISD was recently named an Exemplary District of Distinction by the Texas Educational Theatre Association (TxETA). This is the highest designation awarded to individual schools and districts that are making outstanding contributions to raising the standards for theatre education through achievement, curation of resources, diversity and advocacy for theatre arts.

To achieve the prestigious honor, schools and districts across the state were evaluated in different categories, including quality and quantity of theatrical performances, play libraries and access to acting spaces, community and administrative support for theatre programs, student involvement in University Interscholastic League (UIL) contests, participation in theatrical design competitions and theatre technology.

“We could not be more proud of our thespians and their teachers for the outstanding efforts to bring this recognition to our community,” said John Morrison, CFISD director of fine arts. “The incredible performances and commitment to the furthering of theatre education in our schools is to be commended.”

TxETA aims to support, promote and expand educational theatre at all levels y providing educational opportunities, building a network of resources and support and creating a forum for establishing standards, programs and projects in order to celebrate the importance of theatre.
